Portraits and Narrative Works

I’ve always been drawn to portrait painting. A successful portrait isn’t just about likeness, it’s about capturing character. John Singer Sargent famously said that "a portrait is a painting in which there is something wrong about the mouth". a reference to the intricacies attaining a specific likeness of any given subject. My goal is to create work that feels accurate both outwardly and inwardly, where expression, posture, and presence align. These same observational skills drive my narrative paintings and master copies, which I continue to pursue as part of a lifelong commitment to improvement. That pursuit informs all of my commissioned work.
